As a Senior Product Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of human-delivered, technology-enabled crisis support. You will work across the organization and externally to define the strategy for our foundational data services that drive our business operations and support our customers and research teams. 

You will lead the strategy, architecture, and execution of a scalable and interoperable data platform supporting Crisis Text Line's product development initiatives. You will provide technical leadership and ensure seamless data integration across core components, including data lakes, third-party tools, metadata management, AI services, and access control.

Responsibilities

Product Strategy and User Advocacy:

  • Domain expertise. Be a subject matter expert on your product domain, including understanding the needs of the users within it. Be the go to person for understanding user problems and priorities and where the most impact can be made. 
  • Advocate for the customer and the user. Drive an opinionated and empathetic strategy to ensure we are optimizing our data framework and policies to ensure both security and appropriate access
  • Lead cross-team initiatives that impact both the day-to-day and the strategic work of the engineering teams with a focus on building a scalable and secure unified data layer. Establish and oversee data stewardship programs to meet quality, governance, and compliance needs
  • Identify opportunities to improve data practices in line with industry standard tooling and processes (e.g. setting appropriate SLAs/SLOs for data freshness, completeness, and accuracy). Collaborate with Engineering and Product leadership to determine Build vs Buy decisions.
  • Stakeholder management. Build strong relationships with stakeholders across teams while driving alignment.  Manage and align a diverse set of cross-functional stakeholders, integrating feedback and escalating issues where necessary. 

Product Execution and Delivery:

  • Product delivery. Partner with a scrum team to deliver data features on an established timeline. Consult leadership as needed to iterate on these decisions to ensure products meet business needs.
  • Ensure effective cross-functional communications across the engineering, research & impact, legal, data science, and product teams, with an emphasis on clearly communicating technical aspects, dependencies, risks, and user needs
  • Roadmapping & prioritization. Create and maintain product roadmaps. Effectively prioritize initiatives to bring customer value and meet business goals. Clearly communicate the logic, insights, and decision-making that influence roadmap prioritization.
  • Manage risk and optimize resources. Anticipate roadblocks and remove them. Discover technical and business dependencies, and create a path forward Evaluate and manage tradeoffs between cost and performance of data systems.
  • Continuous improvement and flexibility. Proactively identify improvements for team processes and solutions when challenges arise. 

Qualifications

  • Have 5+ years experience in Product Management, preferably managing data engineering products for enterprise software in a complex cloud, B2B or SaaS environment. 
  • Have proven experience defining a product vision and roadmap and managing incremental execution through successful launches
  • Have a demonstrated ability to autonomously gather and synthesize requirements from users and stakeholders and identify the key problems to solve
  • Deep technical understanding of data architecture and pipelines, data warehousing, data schemas, data security, and data quality and governance. 
  • Ability to communicate technical solutions to non-technical stakeholders 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Excellent communication skills and a proven track record of collaborative partnerships with external customers and internal stakeholders across multiple departments
  • Proven experience with agile methodologies and working in cross-functional teams
  • Experience with Databricks and Machine Learning delivery highly preferred

Reliable High-Speed Internet Required: Must have a stable high-speed internet connection to support seamless remote collaboration, virtual meetings, online job tasks, etc.

The full salary range for this position, across all United States geographies, is $115,192 to $131,220 per year. The upper portion of the salary range is typically reserved for existing employees who demonstrate strong performance over time. Starting salary will vary by location, qualifications, and prior experience; during the interview process, candidates will learn the starting salary range applicable for their location. We pay competitively in the tech-forward nonprofit space and offer a robust benefits package.
