Events Program Lead
Who we are
At Crisis Text Line we believe that every person in crisis deserves to be heard, understood, and supported. Our mission is carried forward by people who lead with empathy, integrity, and a deep sense of responsibility to one another and the communities we serve.
We are building a team of thoughtful, purpose-driven professionals who want their work to matter. Across every role, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful impact, collaborate with committed colleagues, and help shape systems, programs, and experiences that strengthen our organization and the people who make our mission possible.
If you’re driven by purpose, passionate about designing meaningful learning and engagement experiences, and motivated to deliver work that empowers volunteers and strengthens their growth and connection, this is the role for you.
Role
This Events Program lead role is responsible for designing and delivering high-impact virtual and hybrid events that foster learning, connection, and a strong sense of community among volunteers. It leads the evolution of existing programs into a cohesive, needs-driven events strategy, shaped by community insights and organizational priorities. In close partnership with Learning, Community, and Clinical teams, this role helps curate thoughtful, engaging content while serving as the operational lead and host for events—overseeing logistics, platforms, and end-to-end execution. Through intentional measurement and continuous improvement, this role ensures events remain accessible, effective, and deeply impactful for the communities they serve.
As the Events Program Lead, you will:
- Design and deliver engaging virtual and hybrid events that foster volunteer connection, learning, and community, leveraging a variety of formats (e.g., panels, discussions, interactive sessions) beyond traditional webinars.
- Audit and evolve existing events into a cohesive, data-informed strategy that reflects community needs, engagement patterns, and organizational priorities.
- Partner with the Learning & Engagement Manager to assess current events, identify gaps, and define a roadmap for scalable, high-impact event programming.
- Collaborate with SMEs, Learning Design, Community, and Clinical partners to shape event content and experiences that are impactful, inclusive, and aligned with mission priorities.
- Facilitate dynamic, discussion-driven events—guiding conversations and elevating diverse perspectives.
- Serve as both host and operational lead for events, overseeing logistics, platforms, and seamless end-to-end execution.
- Bring a strong point of view on event tools, platforms, and engagement strategies, selecting the right formats and technologies to support scale and impact.
- Evaluate event effectiveness using qualitative and quantitative data, and continuously iterate to improve reach, engagement, and overall experience.
- Build scalable, repeatable processes that ensure consistency, accessibility, and excellence as event programming grows.
- Project manage event initiatives from concept through execution, ensuring timelines, quality standards, and experience goals are met.
Minimum Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience designing and delivering virtual or hybrid events, community programming, or engagement initiatives.
- Proven ability to design and execute events end-to-end, from concept through facilitation and operations, with experience using a variety of formats (e.g., panels, discussions, interactive sessions).
- Demonstrated experience facilitating live events or conversations, with the ability to guide discussion, engage participants, and create an inclusive, dynamic experience.
- Experience evaluating and evolving existing programs or events using feedback, engagement data, or user insights to improve effectiveness and impact.
- Strong project and program management skills, with the ability to manage multiple events or initiatives simultaneously while maintaining quality and timelines.
- Experience collaborating cross-functionally with subject matter experts (SMEs) and partners across teams such as Learning, Community, Clinical, Marketing, or Operations.
- Ability to operate independently in ambiguous, fast-moving environments and contribute to building new or evolving programs from the ground up.
- Strong judgment in selecting event formats, tools, and technologies to support engagement, accessibility, and scale.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing events or programming for volunteer-based, nonprofit, healthcare, mental health, or mission-driven organizations.
- Background in community-led events, customer education, enablement, or learning-focused programming.
- Experience creating interactive or discussion-based event experiences (e.g., panels, roundtables, cohort-based sessions) rather than primarily lecture-style or webinar delivery.
- Familiarity with virtual event platforms, community tools, and/or CRM or event management systems.
- Experience building scalable event processes, playbooks, or repeatable frameworks.
- Experience supporting or planning in-person events or regional programming.
- Volunteer experience or lived connection to mission-driven or community-based work.
